Publications  Income Distribution

An analysis of income distribution data for 83 countries (1) contradicts some widely held views and confirms others, about the relationship between income distribution and other variables. Our findings are based on a sequence of regressions nested into the following general model:

Y = a + SbiDi + gT +(d + fT)LIN + (y + lT)LIN2 + SmiXi + ui,

where

Y

is a measure of income distribution

D

are corrective  dummy variables

T

is time

LIN

is the logarithm of per capita GNP in 1964 U.S .dollars

Xi

are additional explanatory variables.
